Terms of Service
Version: 2026-05-v1 Effective Date: 2026-05-20 Provider: Ansett Solutions (operating under the trade name "Selfism")
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Selfism mobile application, website, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). The Service is provided by Ansett Solutions, a company registered in India ("Selfism", "we", "our", or "us"). By creating an account, installing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
1.1 You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older.
1.2 If we discover that you are under 18, we will terminate your account and delete your data without notice.
1.3 You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction.
2. Nature of the Service — Educational, Not Professional
2.1 Selfism is an educational and self-development service rooted in the Selfism philosophy. It provides reading, audio, written exercises, AI-driven coaching simulations, community discussion, and personal journaling tools.
2.2 The Service is not, and is not intended to be, a substitute for:
- Psychotherapy, counselling, or any other licensed mental-health service;
- Medical diagnosis or treatment;
- Crisis intervention or emergency care;
- Legal, financial, tax, career, or relationship counselling;
- Any form of regulated professional advice.
2.3 We do not establish a doctor-patient, therapist-client, attorney-client, or fiduciary relationship with you. No one delivering content through the Service is acting in a professional capacity unless we expressly and identifiably engage a licensed professional and disclose that fact in the relevant content.
2.4 If you are experiencing a mental-health emergency, suicidal thoughts, self-harm urges, abuse, or any other crisis, stop using the Service and contact local emergency services or a licensed professional immediately. We provide crisis-resource links inside the app as a courtesy, not as a replacement for real help.
3. AI-Generated and AI-Assisted Content
3.1 A substantial portion of the Service's content is AI-generated or AI-assisted. This includes, without limitation:
- Audio stories and pod episodes (written, narrated, or voiced with AI text and AI voice-synthesis systems);
- Training modules and lesson content (drafted or substantially edited by AI);
- Situation Practice scenarios and explanations;
- Checkmate dialogues and the suggested reply scripts;
- Daily quotes, prompts, and ready-reply drafts;
- Conversational responses from Ask AI, Dark Coach, and any other feature labeled as AI;
- Community-related generated examples, sample posts, and AI-summarised insights.
Even where content has been reviewed by a human editor, the underlying generation is AI-driven. The Service is therefore not a curated library of professionally-authored material, and you should not treat it as such.
3.2 AI-driven interactive features — including "Ask AI", "Dark Coach", "Checkmate", "Situation Practice", and any other feature labeled as AI — are powered by large language models supplied by third-party providers (currently Google Gemini, and any successor or additional providers we may engage in the future). Responses are generated probabilistically at the moment of your request.
3.3 AI is fallible. You acknowledge that AI-generated or AI-assisted content — including every category listed in Section 3.1 — may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, biased, fabricated, hallucinated, inconsistent, or offensive. AI output is not reviewed by Selfism for accuracy prior to delivery and should not be relied upon for any decision of consequence. Statements presented as facts, anecdotes, statistics, names, places, dates, quotations, or attributions in AI-generated content may be wholly or partly fabricated. You are responsible for independently verifying anything you rely on.
3.4 Privacy of AI inputs. Messages you send to interactive AI features are transmitted to third-party AI providers for inference. We have processor agreements with these providers, but you should not share information you would not be comfortable being processed off-device, including but not limited to: real names of third parties, phone numbers, exact addresses, financial-account details, passwords, government identifiers, or any other sensitive personal data.
3.5 Liability. Selfism, its affiliates, and its AI providers are not liable for any action you take, decision you make, or harm you or any third party suffers as a result of AI-generated or AI-assisted content — whether that content was delivered via an interactive feature or as part of a pre-recorded story, audio pod, training module, dialogue, scenario, quote, or any other surface.
4. Your Account
4.1 You must provide accurate registration information and keep it current.
4.2 You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including the security of your password and any access credentials.
4.3 You may not transfer your account, share login credentials, or allow another person to use your account.
4.4 We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms.
5. User-Generated Content
5.1 You may create posts, comments, journal entries, secret notes, replies, profile data, and other content (collectively, "User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content.
5.2 By submitting User Content to public-facing surfaces of the Service (such as the community), you grant Selfism a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, modify, and distribute that User Content for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
5.3 You represent and warrant that you own or have the right to share your User Content and that it does not infringe any third-party rights, violate any law, or breach these Terms.
5.4 You agree NOT to post or transmit any User Content that:
- Is unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, obscene, hateful, or invasive of another's privacy;
- Promotes violence, self-harm, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristic;
- Contains malware, spam, phishing, or scam content;
- Infringes any patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property right;
- Impersonates any person or entity;
- Reveals private information about another person without their consent;
- Solicits the personal information of minors.
5.5 We may remove any User Content at our sole discretion, with or without notice, including User Content that we determine violates these Terms or our community guidelines.
5.6 You may flag any User Content for review through the in-app "Report" function. You may block any other user through the in-app "Block" function.
6. Personal Responsibility — Outcomes Are Yours
6.1 Selfism teaches a philosophy of personal sovereignty: that you are responsible for your boundaries, your choices, and your responses to other people. As a corollary, you are responsible for the consequences of decisions you make using insights or content from the Service.
6.2 Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, you acknowledge that you are solely responsible for, and Selfism is not responsible for, any consequence — to you or to any third party — arising from your decision to:
- Confront, dispute with, or sever ties with an employer, colleague, family member, spouse, partner, friend, or any other person;
- Resign from, refuse, or change your employment;
- End, modify, or refuse a romantic, marital, familial, or other relationship;
- Make any financial, legal, medical, parenting, or career decision;
- Decline social, religious, cultural, or familial obligations;
- Take, refuse, or change any action of any kind.
6.3 The following are examples — not an exhaustive list — of outcomes for which Selfism, Ansett Solutions, and their officers, directors, employees, contractors, and AI providers are NOT responsible: loss of employment, loss of income, financial loss, civil or criminal legal action, divorce, child-custody outcomes, family estrangement, social ostracism, loss of friendships, reputational damage, mental-health deterioration, physical harm, and any other harm — whether tangible or intangible.
6.4 You expressly release Selfism from any claim arising from your application — successful or unsuccessful — of any insight, technique, framework, script, response, or suggestion derived from the Service.
7. Subscriptions, Trials, and Payment
7.1 Some parts of the Service require a paid subscription. Pricing and current terms are displayed in the app at the point of purchase.
7.2 Auto-renewal disclosure: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period; previously paid amounts are non-refundable except where required by law.
7.3 You manage and cancel subscriptions through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings, not through Selfism directly. Selfism does not have the ability to process refunds for purchases made through these platforms.
7.4 We may change prices for new billing periods upon notice; continued use after the change constitutes acceptance.
7.5 Free trials, if offered, convert automatically to paid subscriptions unless cancelled before the trial ends.
8. Intellectual Property
8.1 The Service, including all content we provide (other than User Content), software, design, trademarks, and the Selfism philosophy materials, is owned by Ansett Solutions and protected by intellectual property law.
8.2 You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.
8.3 You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the Service or its content, except as expressly permitted by law.
9. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, available in-app and at selfism.community/privacy. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Ansett Solutions, Selfism, and their affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of the Service;
- Your User Content;
- Your violation of these Terms;
- Your violation of any third-party right, including any intellectual property, privacy, or contract right;
- Any action you take based on Service content that causes harm to any third party.
11. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
11.1 The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, availability, or that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties; in such jurisdictions, exclusions apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11.2 To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Ansett Solutions, Selfism, or their affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, AI providers, or agents be liable for:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages;
- Any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, employment, relationships, or business opportunity;
- Any damages arising from your reliance on Service content;
- Any damages arising from AI-generated output;
- Any damages exceeding, in aggregate, the greater of (a) the amount you have paid Selfism in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (US$100).
11.3 The limitations in this Section 11 apply regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, statute, or otherwise) and even if Selfism has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
11.4 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for (a) death or personal injury caused by Selfism's gross negligence or wilful misconduct, (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or (c) any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under your local law.
12. Mental Health and Safety Notice
12.1 Selfism is not a clinical service. If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide, self-harm, or harm toward others; if you are in an abusive or unsafe situation; or if you are in any other crisis — stop using the Service immediately and contact your local emergency number, a national crisis helpline, or a licensed mental-health professional.
12.2 You agree that you will not use the Service as a substitute for professional crisis intervention or emergency response.
12.3 We provide a Support Center inside the app with crisis-helpline contact details for several major regions and a link to findahelpline.com (130+ country directory) as a convenience, not as our professional opinion or recommendation.
13. Dispute Resolution, Arbitration, and Class Action Waiver
13.1 Governing Law: These Terms and any dispute arising out of or related to them or the Service are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
13.2 Arbitration: Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service that cannot be resolved through good-faith negotiation within thirty (30) days shall be finally resolved by binding arbitration administered under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (India). The seat of arbitration shall be Indore, India. The arbitration shall be conducted by a sole arbitrator in English. The arbitral award shall be final and binding on the parties.
13.3 Class Action Waiver: Disputes shall be resolved on an individual basis only. You agree that you will not bring any claim against Selfism as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative proceeding, and that the arbitrator may not consolidate any claims with those of any other person.
13.4 Exceptions: Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect intellectual property rights or to enforce confidentiality obligations.
13.5 If for any reason a claim proceeds in court rather than arbitration, the parties consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts located in Indore, India.
14. Termination, Service Modification, and Discontinuation
14.1 Termination by you. You may terminate your account at any time through Profile → Settings → Privacy & Security → Delete My Account. Deletion is permanent and removes all your data from our servers, subject to limited exceptions for records we are legally required to retain (see Privacy Policy § 7).
14.2 Termination by us. We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for any reason, including breach of these Terms, with or without notice.
14.3 Survival. Sections 5.2 (license granted to us), 6 (Personal Responsibility), 8 (Intellectual Property), 10 (Indemnification), 11 (Limitation of Liability), 13 (Dispute Resolution), and any other provisions that by their nature should survive termination, shall survive termination.
14.4 Service Modification. We reserve the right at any time, and from time to time, to modify, update, suspend, or discontinue — temporarily or permanently — the Service or any feature, content, pricing, or functionality of it, with or without notice. You agree that Selfism shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any such modification, update, suspension, or discontinuance.
14.5 Service Discontinuation. If we decide to discontinue the Service in its entirety, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to:
- (a) Notify you at least thirty (30) days in advance via email (to the address associated with your account) and via in-app notification, where technically possible;
- (b) Provide a reasonable means for you to request a copy of your personal data during the notice period (via Profile → Settings → Privacy & Security → Request My Data, or by emailing support@selfism.community);
- (c) For active paid subscribers, pro-rate any prepaid period not yet served and process a refund through the original payment processor (Apple App Store, Google Play, or RevenueCat), subject to that platform's refund rules and our reasonable best efforts to facilitate.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, the thirty-day notice and refund obligations in this Section 14.5 may not apply where discontinuation is necessitated by legal, regulatory, security, force-majeure, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control, in which case we will provide whatever notice is reasonable under the circumstances.
14.6 Service Availability — "As Available". The Service is provided on an "as-available" basis. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; that any defects will be corrected; or that the Service will be free of viruses, malware, or other harmful components. We may impose limits on certain features, restrict your access to parts or all of the Service, or take the Service offline for scheduled or unscheduled maintenance, server downtime, third-party provider outages, security incidents, or any other reason — at any time, without notice or liability.
14.7 Effect of termination on data. On account termination (whether initiated by you or by us), your personal data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Public content you have posted (community posts, comments) may remain visible in anonymised or attributed form unless you have requested its removal, as permitted by these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to These Terms
15.1 We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes we will (a) update the version number and effective date, (b) publish the new version inside the app, (c) require you to re-accept the new Terms before continuing to use the Service, and (d) attempt to notify you by email and in-app notification.
15.2 Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the modified Terms constitutes your acceptance of those Terms.
16. Miscellaneous
16.1 Entire Agreement. These Terms together with the Privacy Policy and any policies referenced herein constitute the entire agreement between you and Selfism regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
16.2 Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
16.3 No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision.
16.4 Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.
16.5 Force Majeure. We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God, war, terrorism, civil unrest, government action, labor disputes, pandemic, power or telecommunications failures, or any other force majeure event.
16.6 No Agency. Nothing in these Terms creates any agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship between you and Selfism.
16.7 Notices to Selfism should be sent to support@selfism.community. Notices to you may be delivered to the email address associated with your account, by in-app notification, or by posting on the Service.
